2012: IMAGINATION

The tenth edition of the Science Festival will be held in Genoa from 25 October to 4 November 2012. Imagination will be the keyword.
In the words of Albert Einstein, "Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the world, stimulating progress and generating evolution. "

The tenth anniversary of the Science Festival is dedicated to Imagination as an antidote to banality, meaning difference, identity, personality, freedom.
The philosophy of the Festival has remained unchanged: to make science accessible to everyone - to a public of all ages, students and experts - thanks to the variety of topics, to the active participation in the planned activities and to an extensive distribution over the territory.

Science and art exhibitions, workshops, exhibits, conferences, meetings, performances, special events: this is the vast range of choices that we intend to offer to the public, collaborating to this aim with the most important national and international scientific networks. Particular emphasis is given to the interactive nature of the proposed events, to bring the public closer to the world of science and technology in ways both funny and effective.
As in the previous editions, since the beginning of the process of designing the program contents, the Festival aims to involve the largest possible number of people and institutions operating on the Italian territory and in the international arena. This year Europe will be special guest, for a really international edition to which workshops and groups from all EU countries will be invited.

More than 400 proposals have been submitted.

All proposals will be evaluated by the Scientific Council of the Science Festival. In its sole discretion and in collaboration with the organizing staff, the Scientific Council assesses the events that will be part of the official program for the next edition of the Festival.
Proposals will be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:

• interest of the topic and of the proposed scientific content
• method of communication
• relevance to the keyword and the theme of the year
• authoritativeness of the scientific advisor
• operational feasibility
• interactivity

The communication of the possible inclusion in the program of the Science Festival 2012 will be given, as an indication, by the end of April 2012.
